Canby Farmers Grain is seeking a motivated, results-driven Grain Originator to build and maintain strong producer relationships while originating grain and helping customers with their marketing needs. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and competitive, and comfortable making cold calls, developing new business, and growing market share across our trade territory.
What you'll do:
Procure grain directly from local producers through relationship-building and active sales
Develop new business through cold calling, farm visits, networking, and community involvement
Provide market information, grain bids, and marketing solutions; assist with contracts, pricing, and risk management
Coordinate grain movement, transportation, and delivery schedules
Monitor markets, communicate opportunities, and meet origination and business-development goals
What we're looking for:
Associate's or bachelor's in Ag Business, Ag Economics, Agronomy, or related field preferred
Minimum 1 year of grain industry experience preferred; strong grasp of grain markets and merchandising
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills; proven ability to generate business and close deals
Self-starter able to manage a territory independently; valid driver's license and willingness to travel the trade area
